Ok, so I started building this computer about a year ago, and it's never really worked because I have awful luck with putting together things. I bent the pins on my first CPU and replaced it, and then I forgot to connect power to my video card. It made a very loud shriek noise. I replaced the mobo thinking I had fried it since I couldn't get it working, and with the new mobo I finally got it working and was installing vista, I then knocked over a glass of water onto my open case.

I let it air-dry for like a week, and removed all the parts and put it back together and couldn't get vista to install so I ignored it again. Since my laptop is now dying, I've decided to try to get it working again, but I can't figure out whats wrong.

Parts:
- Motherboard A
- Motherboard B
- CPU
- RAM
- PSU
- Video Card
- Video Card 2 nvidia 7300GT (Old card, can't find specs. >_>)

Problem:
- All fans spin, green mobo light is on, and computer starts up but I get no video on my monitor with either card. (9800 or 7300). No BIOS, no nothing. Monitor sits at "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE".

I'm for sure my monitor works. I use it on a daily basis with this laptop. I also have no idea if either motherboard beeps, because I can't find the internal/chassis speaker wire. I see where it's suppose to go, just no wire.

EDIT: Not using the 7300 WITH the 9800 for SLI. I've been testing both to see if it makes any difference to get my computer working. I had originally planned on SLI when I bought the parts and put it together, and was going to buy another 9800 later, but it didn't work out that way.

EDIT 2: I have no idea if either motherboard works, the second one worked previously before I moved so I'll do most of the suggestions on it unless otherwise told. Also, I -haven't- installed an OS. It hasn't worked long enough to get it installed or usable.

whoa, whoa, whoa - FYI you can't SLI a 9800 GT with a 7300..... it just won't work. You need identical (same model at least) video cards to use SLI (with Crossfire you need same family/series). If you wan't to have dual video cards then you need to buy a second 9800.

I'm not using SLI, I've been trying both cards INDIVIDUALLY to see if it'll work.

1st thing - check the manual that came with the motherboard and follow the procedure for "clearing CMOS RAM" - which could be called "clearing the RTC" (Real Time Clock) or "resetting the BIOS".

Cleared CMOS on the asus m2n68-board, no video on either card. I moved the jumper, and took out the battery. :\ Not really sure if it's worth it to switch motherboards just to clear CMOS.

Have you tried running with just onboard video? If that works you may need to go into the BIOS and change the display adapter settings for PCIe first.

You could also try minimizing it to mobo, cpu, psu, hdd and 1 stick of RAM and see if it will boot then.

lol onboard. >_> I forgot about that. Bios shows up with 1 stick of RAM and onboard. Not sure what exactly I'm suppose to be doing in BIOS to change it, but I changed allowed plug and play to "Yes".

you should have an option that allows you to pick PCI as the primary/first video device/display adapter... it's often the menu 3-4 pages over in the BIOS and may have just 1 option to change.... I don't think the Plug and Play will affect anything as far as a new video card goes.
